As a result of our research and collaboration with national and international educators and technology experts, The Public Education Foundation is developing an online learning network, WorldWide Learning Connection, to encourage contact and collaboration among educators and studnets around the world. By providing a vibrant, stimulating and secure online environment to share cultures, traditions and commonalities, the WorldWide Learning Connection will promote cross-cultural awareness and help facilitate tolerance and respect among our world citizens. The WorldWide Learning Connection will incorporate current and emerging technologies to create and deliver flexible and accessible learning environments. Through projects, blogs, wikis, etc., students around the world will be engaged as active learners, build relevant and creative content, and build critical thinking skills. Working on a project with a global team, students can create music together, build a world mosaic, write a never-ending story participate in an international sing-a-long and share perspectives on learning in various realms. The Public Education Foundation is committed to providing opportunities to schools that will bring teaching and learning into the 21st century and enhance cultural understanding. Because of the magnitude of WorldWide Learning Connection, we are seeking partners from the local, state, national and international communities to join us in accepting the challenge of finding new and creative ways to work and learn together, encourage understanding and acceptance, and use technology to equalize the educational opportunities of all children regardless of location and/or social and economic circumstances. If you would like to learn more about the WorldWide Learning Connection and the partnership opportunities available, contact Tom Zimmerman, Director of Media and Technology, (702) 799-1042 or zimmerman@ccpef.org
