The highest-performing organizations recruit and retain top talent. To effect real change in public education, we need leaders with vision, knowledge, imagination, skill and the courage to stimulate solutions and produce results. The Leadership Institute of Nevada will build a talent network of leaders from Nevada's public schools, business and industry, and schools throughout our nation to drive school improvement. The Leadership Institute of Nevada presently consists of two distinct programs. The first program is the Education Leadership Summit. Two times per year principals, business leaders, and elected officials from across the state will be invited to attend an event featuring the world's best practitioners, scholars and business experts. Participants from Northern and Southern Nevada will be exposed to new ideas, entrepreneurial thinkers, and best practices intended to motivate, inspire, and foster awareness of innovative problem solving. The second program is the Executive Leadership Academy. Designed to provide an intensive executive leadership experience, The Executive Leadership Academy will enable invited participants to apply strategic, flexible, creative and integrative approaches to educating children. One weekend per month participants will be exposed to world-class professionals in the fields of education, business and public policy. The multidisciplinary curriculum will consist of lecture and discussion, an examination of case studies and opportunities for analysis and application of practical skills in a real-world context. The program will also provide executive mentoring from leaders in education and private business, both local and national, to support each participant throughout the academy experience and beyond. At the conclusion of each Academy, the state's most promising leaders will grow, building momentum toward breakthroughs and innovations in education policy, practice and achievement. This group of educational and entrepreneurial leaders will impact hundreds of thousands of children in Nevada. They will ultimately set the standard and raise the bar for educators, creating a talented pipeline to transform the system. Imagine a network of great minds focused on propelling our schools and our children forward so that they can successfully compete with the world's best.
