Throughout the Clark County School District, there are schools that could be defined as high performing or “Great Schools.” They are consistently producing outstanding learning outcomes. The goals of the Centers of Excellence initiative include identifying “Great Schools,” sharing their best practices with other schools and developing the “Great Schools” into training centers and demonstration sites for local and statewide educators. Our Centers of Excellence initiative has identified the characteristics and attributes of a “Great School.” These attributes were developed by integrating and blending the best of educational and business practices, the elements of an Empowerment School and the governance of the Autonomous Zone.
