LEADER'S CHOICE
INITIATIVE GRANTS

Important note. Deadline for LEADER'S CHOICE INITIATIVE GRANTS has passed. Application provided for review purposes only.

LEADER'S CHOICE INITIATIVE GRANTS are designed to improve student achievement and produce system-wide change. These grants provide school administrators with the opportunity to identify a critical need within their system, propose a measurable solution, outline the implementation guidelines and communicate the vision of their success.

Grants of up to $20,000 will be awarded with the expectation that one grant will be awarded to each region. An additional $5,000 for a total of $25,000 may be awarded for applications that meet the grant's definition of "innovative". Regions are encouraged to utilize these grants to establish collaborative programs among schools within their region, or a region may choose to have one school pilot a program if it represents the best thinking within their region.

Members of The Public Education Foundation Grant Review Committee are selected from the business and education community and from the members of the Board of The Public Education Foundation. The committee reviews and judges each grant application on the following:

• Ability to implement school reform

• Potential for significant improvement in student achievement

• Clarity

• Evaluation design

• Ability of the project to be replicated or adapted by other schools

After the awards are made and the grants implemented:

• A project audit is conducted by the Audit Team composed of one member of the business community and one member from the education community.

• A final project report is prepared and submitted by the grant recipient.
