Montblanc Writing Contest Winners Selected
West Prep Senior receives top award

Montblanc and The Public Education Foundation announced today the winners of their "A Story to Tell" writing contest for Clark County School District high school students. Juan Gonzalez, a senior at West Prep School, is the first place winner of the contest.

Teachers were encouraged to use the contest's theme, "There are many stories to tell. What's yours?" as a creative writing assignment for students. More than 250 entries were received. Juan's story was titled, "My Friendly Neighborhood Mr. Rogers."

Kaleileihua Cabanas, a junior at Del Sol High School, received second place honors for her story "My Hero," and Julianna Thornock, a senior at Clark High School, was the third place winner with her piece "On Dogs, Dinosaurs, and Pink Crayons."

Juan receives a Montblanc writing instrument and a DVD autographed by puppeteer Scott Land. Kaleileihua and Julianna both receive a $50 gift card to the Grand Lux Café.

Jenn Fritz teaches Juan at West Prep. She receives a Montblanc writing instrument. Angelique Callicoat teaches Kaleileihua at Del Sol, and Joanne Ho teaches Julianna at Clark. Both Angelique and Joanne receive a $50 gift card to First Food.

All three students and their teachers will be honored at a special ceremony on Thursday, December 15 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Montblanc Boutique located in the Shoppes at The Palazzo. The media is invited to attend. The winning stories will be displayed in the boutique from December 15-25 and on the Foundation's Web site.

Scott Land of Scott Land Marionettes will give a special performance for the winners at the December 15 celebration. Scott is a renowned puppeteer who performed in nearly every scene of Paramount Pictures' Team America: World Police, the most expensive puppet-driven feature film ever produced.
