An exclusive, private matinee for K-12 children in Clark County
March 25, 2010 at The Thomas & Mack Center

The Public Education Foundation is proud to bring a private matinee performance of “Walking with Dinosaurs – The Arena Spectacular” to students in Clark County on March 25, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. We have negotiated a dramatically reduced price for this special presentation for K-12 students.

We are actively seeking sponsors to bring this show to life for Clark County students. If you would like to sponsor this special matinee performance, please call Jeff Geihs at The Public Education Foundation, 702-799-1042 or email him at jgeihs@ccpef.org.

Seventeen roaring, snarling “live” dinosaurs mesmerize the audience and are as awe-inspiring as when they first walked the earth. The show depicts the dinosaurs’ evolution spanning their entire 200 million year reign. The history of the world is played out with almost cinematic realism, including scenes of the daily interactions between dinosaurs. You will see how carnivorous dinosaurs evolved to walk on two legs, and how the herbivores fended off their more agile predators. View a sneak peak of the show.

The unique educational value of this show, which is based on the award-winning BBC television series, provides a great opportunity for students to learn in a fun and entertaining environment. Participating teachers receive science study guides to use as a resource when studying dinosaurs or illustrating concepts of biological science. Through the combination of curriculum and an interactive field-trip, students will gain proficiency in the area of science, which is an area of critical need in Nevada.

In addition, students garner an understanding in robotics due to the animatronics within the production. The exclusive exposure to these disciplines may motivate students to pursue careers in the sciences and/or engineering fields.
